| This large and beautifully executed towel was most likely from the Swiss area of Appenzell ,I found it in Zurich. Most work was done at home, and is considered some of the finest work available. Though not as elaborate as some appenzell work, the figural work is perfection, with exquisite detail, worked in my favorite Swiss blue and white, which is also indicative of Appenzell work. Note the precious little bird on the lower left. Each end has a row of drawn open work in this very fine drapey linen.It measures 47" X 23". Truly a collector's piece! | ||
