| An early 1800's custom was to send Easter greetings accompanied by a keepsake. During Napoleon III era, these hand blown eggs were at its peak, and were often hand painted by the giver. This large and unique egg is fitted at the top with a bronze ormolu hanger, with chain of tiny twisted loops attached to the hanging loop. Obviously hand painted violets, not professional, but so charming! There is a round piece on the bottom, which seems to be ebony with ivory center, or possibly Bakelite, added to cover the pontil. Measures 6" tall with hanger. Found in Brussels | ||
