Exceptional hand coloring on this brilliant copper engraving by Pierre-Quentin Chedel, a noted French engraver of architecture, landscape and views. I believe it is from Prevost's , Histoire Generale des Voyages, a most influential travel book in mid 1700. Titled Nouveau Mexico, it is of a bird's eye view of Mexico City, after the Spanish Conquest, showing the results of Spanish drainage and waterworks projects...

I truly consider this a piece for collectors, as pieces made at home were used until they were just "worn out"! This piece seems never used, but carefully stored wrapped in a piece of homespun linen. From the time when fabrics were made from home-produced yarn, which meant starting from scratch by raising flax for linen or sheep for wool...

I couldn't resist this unusual majolica server, even though it has some wear. The glaze is so rich, and has almost irridescent look when the light catches it. How clever the curled, reeded stem forms the handle! It is deep green, the different colorations in photos are only reflections due to the deep glaze. In fact I left the dust on it to reduce the glare. Each leaf tip has a teeny chip, but it is underneath and doesn't show unless you turn it over, as shown in photo...

An early 1800's custom was to send Easter greetings accompanied by a keepsake. During Napoleon III era, these hand blown eggs were at its peak, and were often hand painted by the giver. This large and unique egg is fitted at the top with a bronze ormolu hanger, with chain of tiny twisted loops attached to the hanging loop...

So unique as is or made into a long pillow for your music room or parlor, don't you think? Most likely hand embroidered and painted on moire' faille by a Victorian lady for her piano! Can you see the hand painted French horn in the center? The tiny silk knotted rosette trim is fab. The condition is excellent, even with the slightly fading under the music bars, creating a slight shadow in my eyes. The 2nd photo shows the moire' color best...

For your frilly bed, this one has such charm! The needle worked open work is all by hand and measures over 1 1/2"! Then there is the 3 1/4" ruffled flounce with tiny baby lace, all of very fine light weight cotton. There is damage to the lace in one place. I think this might have been assembled with french seams from either a larger piece or even 2 different vintage pieces! What a delightful preservation of workmanship! It measures 12" X 19 1/2". Freshly laundered and pressed...

A rare combination of needle work, that will take your breath away. I'll do my best to describe this incredible piece, a true collector's item, to be treasured and enjoyed! The fine creamy colored (not white)linen is fine handkerchief weight, attached to beautiful golden yellow silk, and then the pillow backing is of the same silk. The center is a diamond enclosing a most beautifully embroidered figure of a young lady smelling a flower stitched in society silk embroidery...

I found this unique antique frame in a Brussels antique fair and knew it would be stunning hanging in a collection of frames or with a mirror. The finish is most likely a replica of the original. It has repaired crack and some loss of plaster in the inside beading, shown at the top left in the photo...

I was so drawn to this unique Crucifix with the handmade repair of Christ's arm. You just know it has been cherished! It sits on little bun feet, one of which has been replaced with a makeshift part. There is a crack in the lacquer at the bottom of the Cross, but it doesn't go through to the wood...

I love the aged star patterned design on this painted metal tray referred to as tole! I have several papier mache Napoleon III pieces listed on my website, but haven't found any in tole! I think it was probably done later, maybe turn of the century. It's delightful and will add such a punch to any wall or table top! I have several French tole trays and accessories listed here that would go well with this charming tray! Photos show wear appropriate with age.Measures 12" X 8" Check out our other ...

Signed FT Sewell 1904, this pair of Cornish Indians with hand painted colors is wonderful! They seem to have been from a poultry or bird book, with some description on the reverse side. Exotic poultry is always quite desirable, and this pair shows handsomely in their vintage frames with hanging rings on top. The mats appear to be amatuer. I just discovered some fun information about these rare birds but want to make sure it's true!...

I always love anything crafted by hand and this dough bowl certainly fits the bill. Large, with handsome wood grain, it would be perfect filled with vegetables or whatever you choose, even as a centerpiece on your table. I have one that my Mother gave me, and I've enjoyed for years!...

I seldom come across these German miniature fences usually used for feather trees at Christmas or as toy fencing. However this one is large enough for the standard tree, as shown with the Swiss green glass tree stand, item #817942! How charming is that? It is very sturdy handmade with hinges so it folds up! One spindle is loose, and one missing. The green paint is original I believe. Not only for Christmas, but wonderful for display all year. Maybe you could coral some baby chicks at Easter! It m...

I couldn't resist this arty little chair I found in France. So unique for your chair collection or for a doll! There's a little knot in the center of the seat, maybe where a pin cushion was attached. I love it the way it is! 9" tall...
