Exceptional hand coloring on this brilliant copper engraving by Pierre-Quentin Chedel, a noted French engraver of architecture, landscape and views. I believe it is from Prevost's , Histoire Generale des Voyages, a most influential travel book in mid 1700. Titled Nouveau Mexico, it is of a bird's eye view of Mexico City, after the Spanish Conquest, showing the results of Spanish drainage and waterworks projects...

This large and magnificent wedding sheet is heavenly to sleep with! I know because I tried it out before offering it to you! Of the finest lightweight linen, drapey, cold, and billows all around you as it floats down. The spectacular center monogram embroidered with DES is filled with seed stitches,as well as flowers, leaves, and a bow at the bottom...

I truly consider this a piece for collectors, as pieces made at home were used until they were just "worn out"! This piece seems never used, but carefully stored wrapped in a piece of homespun linen. From the time when fabrics were made from home-produced yarn, which meant starting from scratch by raising flax for linen or sheep for wool...

This incredible box , most likely from late 1700's is hand painted and hand crafted with pegs! The colors in places are vibrant and in worn areas muted. Considered a social status for the bride, in which she stored treasures for her wedding, A real treasure for collectors! I couldn't resist this unusual majolica server, even though it has some wear. The glaze is so rich, and has almost irridescent look when the light catches it. How clever the curled, reeded stem forms the handle! It is deep green, the different colorations in photos are only reflections due to the deep glaze. In fact I left the dust on it to reduce the glare. Each leaf tip has a teeny chip, but it is underneath and doesn't show unless you turn it over, as shown in photo...

An early 1800's custom was to send Easter greetings accompanied by a keepsake. During Napoleon III era,these hand blown eggs were at its peak, and were often hand painted by the giver. This large and unique egg is fitted at the top with a bronze ormolu hanger,with chain of tiny twisted loops attached to the hanging loop...

For your frilly bed, this one has such charm! The needle worked open work is all by hand and measures over 1 1/2"! Then there is the 3 1/4" ruffled flounce with tiny baby lace, all of very fine light weight cotton. There is damage to the lace in one place. I think this might have been assembled with french seams from either a larger piece or even 2 different vintage pieces! What a delightful preservation of workmanship! It measures 12" X 19 1/2". Freshly laundered and pressed...

A rare combination of needle work, that will take your breath away. I'll do my best to describe this incredible piece, a true collector's item, to be treasured and enjoyed! The fine creamy colored (not white)linen is fine handkerchief weight, attached to beautiful golden yellow silk, and then the pillow backing is of the same silk.The center is a diamond enclosing a most beautifully embroidered figure of a young lady smelling a flower stitched in society silk embroidery...

I loved studying the simple but precise stitches in this "learning" piece. I imagine the young lady as she practiced the basic stitches here as well as using them to hand bind the work with the T-tiny stitches into a case for her night clothes...

I found this unique antique frame in a Brussels antique fair and knew it would be stunning hanging in a collection of frames or with a mirror. The finish is most likely a replica of the original. It has repaired crack and some loss of plaster in the inside beading, shown at the top left in the photo.
