I truly consider this a piece for collectors, as pieces made at home were used until they were just "worn out"! This piece seems never used, but carefully stored wrapped in a piece of homespun linen. From the time when fabrics were made from home-produced yarn, which meant starting from scratch by raising flax for linen or sheep for wool...

An early 1800's custom was to send Easter greetings accompanied by a keepsake. During Napoleon III era, these hand blown eggs were at its peak, and were often hand painted by the giver. This large and unique egg is fitted at the top with a bronze ormolu hanger, with chain of tiny twisted loops attached to the hanging loop...

So unique as is or made into a long pillow for your music room or parlor, don't you think? Hand embroidered and painted on moire' faille most likely by a Victorian lady for her piano! Can you see the hand painted French horn in the center? The tiny silk knotted rosette trim is fab. The condition is excellent, even with the slightly fading under the music bars, creating a slight shadow in my eyes. The 2nd photo shows the moire' color best...

I love the aged star patterned design on this painted metal tray referred to as tole! I have several papier mache Napoleon III pieces listed on my website, but haven't found any in tole! I think it was probably done later, maybe turn of the century...

I seldom come across these German miniature fences usually used for feather trees at Christmas or as toy fencing. However this one is large enough for the standard tree, as shown with the Swiss green glass tree stand, item #817942! How charming is that? It is very sturdy handmade with hinges so it folds up! One spindle is loose, and one missing. The green paint is original I believe. Not only for Christmas, but wonderful for display all year...

Not just for children, these blocks are even a challenge for adults! The German's are known for their excellent chromolithographs and these are wonderful depictions of Victorian children and their dogs and animals at play in various scenes. There are 4 different scenes included but I have finally figured out the 5th and am working on the final 6th scene(I told you it's a challenge...sooo much fun!) The wooden box is missing 1 end as shown in photos but all blocks are in tact...

This beautiful scalloped and embossed compote has a most unique decoration of underglaze transfer-printing with characteristics of flow blue, a result of the glazing process. This fine example has no repetition of the floral, foliate, and cartouche designs in the bowl. The patterned relief handles are quite lovely. The underneath of the pedestal is marked with an impressed 2 and 8. It measures 10" across the handles X 9" width, x 5.25" high. Thank you for visiting!...

Obviously worn, otherwise remarkable interior condition, dark green velveteen with brass framed edges,Scripted IHS medallion, and clasp , and gold gilt edged pages. Perhaps this dear missal was carried in a pocket, the brass has beautiful patina as found, but I'm sure will polish if you prefer. As shown in photos, St. Guiseppe with child, makes me think this might be for a first Communion.Published in Milano, Italy. 2 1/2"x 4 1/2" ...

Once again, silhouettes have become quite collectible, and this is has a most desirable subject matter The detail in this signed E.V.Maydell and dated 1921 work is most incredible. It is black paper on ecru paper. There is some lifting of the silhouette, and the only breaks I note are at the top of the foot pedal cords, none of which detract at all. It seems to be framed in the age worn, but original black frame. There is no glass, and I leave that to the collector to do as preferred. Of special n...
