This incredible box , most likely from late 1700's is hand painted and hand crafted with pegs! The colors in places are vibrant and in worn areas muted. Considered a social status for the bride, in which she stored treasures for her wedding, A real treasure for collectors! As I'm crazy for boxes of any kind, especially handcrafted, I just couldn't resist this one...

Elaborate pulled or drawn work and embroidery is machine embroidered, on this piece. I'm not sure of the original purpose, but I think it would be delightful over a tissue box on your vanity or in the powder room, as well as so prissy over a basket for scones at your next tea party. I'm sure you might come up with more ideas! Never used and sold as found, perfect condition...

Oh, the delights of fresh French baguettes! This wonderful basket withe canvas handles and leather hinge straps is perfect for using and displaying. Believe me, I've used mine for more things than you could imagine! One antique "expert" proclaimed that this was for ammunition! This one has traces of pale faded red and slight yellow paint as if someone was stenciling it. I like it as is, but you might like to paint it brown, or whatever suits your fancy! like the one I sold earlier...

You can't help but smell the aroma of baguettes when you envision how this was used at one time!
