A dramatic french bronze lion rares up on green marble bases of this pair of original art deco book ends! Excellent patina! They are poised on heavy green marble weighing about 4 lbs. each! Perfect condition but for an old repaired crack in the base shown in the third photo and what might be a crack along a vein. however,does not compromise the sturdiness or desire! This beautiful hand embroidered design is 9 X 5.5",ith drawnwork hemstitching at each end. The design has swirls of drawnwork, heavily padded embroidery and the butterfly is so delightful. The blue embroidery on the wings just add the right touch! Huck woven,very sturdy as it seems to never have been used. The storage marks came out with laundering...So it's freshly laundered and ironed for you...

My photos don't do justice to this quaint Swiss Mountain Cabin Scene on heavy iron. The colors are quite muted in tone ,with Arts and Crafts stylized pine cone designs in each corner and circling the cabin scene. According to my research,the first tole painting on iron was stenciled rather than painted. Some crackling and loss of paint, consistent with its age, adding charm in my opinion...
