This fun handmade handkerchief might have been made by Granny for her grandchild in the early 1900's. So precious and petite! Three little ducks swimming among the pond reeds would certainly appeal to a child. I found this in Switzerland, and it's now freshly laundered and ironed , in perfect condition. Measures approx...

I recently found this amazing hanky in Paris and could hardly believe the intricate hand work! The bouquet of roses, daisies, lily of the valley and more have such detail. The colors are so bright and vivid. The bouquet is surrounded by swirling car-touche woven into the sheer linen. It's hard to believe, but that even seems to be hand stitched, as there are no 2 exactly alike. I've spent much time examining even with a jewelers loupe...

I just adore the handwork on this lovely handkerchief case! The 3rd photo shows a enlarged closeup, trying to show the beautiful stitching, however the photo just doesn't do it justice! The stitches are so teeny I had to check them out with a jewelers loop! A beautiful, colorful bouquet surrounded by a ring of the same! The silk has a pattern of tiny dots. It seems to be lightly padded, and closes with a shell button...

Ethereal linen lawn handkerchief has 1 1/2" embroidered net lace with butterflies and sprigs of flowers all around. The lace edging was made for it, not pieced together! Perfect for bridal use as well as the butterfly aficionado! I found this unused in Switzerland, but have just laundered it! Oops, I think the close up 3rd photo is of the back side! Will try to redo soon...

With a Neat n' Tidy label at the neckline, baby rick rack trims this delightful pinafore apron, from the 40's my guesstimate. The fabric is a very fine unique weave with lines woven in. Excellent condition but for a small hand mending in the skirt (shown in photo on left of skirt)which isn't noticed in the folds...

This charming French night gown is heavily embroidered around the bodice with flowers, foliage, birds, eyelets, and even a dragonfly surrounding the off center monogram MB. The crisp vintage cotton sheeting is ever so white! All the embroidery including the monogram is older machine type, precise and heavily padded...

This French cami is absolutely breathtaking! It is completely made by hand. The condition is wonderful for it's age. It fastens in the back with 3 tiny Mother of Pearl buttons, with little loops that might eventually need replacing as they are rather fragile. The satin straps are 1" wide. It measures approx. 35" across the lace at the top...

Fine, almost handkerchief weight linen, with cutwork and incredibly exact hand embroidered designs on this antique piece, most likely created by a young girl for her trousseau. It was meant to keep and protect her handkerchiefs, gloves, or perhaps lace collars or veils. Of course, it could be made into a charming boudoir pillow! The exquisitely crafted basket signifying abundance for the marriage. (Always welcome!) The 3" oval of stylized flowers might have been intended for monograms...

This is a fine example of the work done at home by ladies long ago! Not only is the hand embroidery perfect, right down to the beautifully scalloped button hole stitched flap, but the french seams are stitched by hand...not machine! Notice the details like the tiny laundry mark in black and white twisted thread, just above the row of drawn hem stitching as shown in last photos. Absolutely perfect work of art! There are faint little stains seen on the top fold, left and right...

Incredible handwork, most likely by several ladies of the Altar Guild, covers this detailed piece! The words in German heavily padded gothic lettering, proclaims "Innocent Lamb of God, Have Mercy on us". As I studied it, I found it to include so much symbolism. My interpretation... The reclining wounded Lamb on the Altar, symbolizes Christ in His sacrificial role and personifies innocence, gentleness and humility. The Sword of the Spirit, and the blood signify the sacrifice. The burning torch s...

This precious bib would be considered a drool bib to protect an infants fine day gown. I found it seemingly unused and have laundered and pressed it for your infant or as a gift. Measures 7 1/4 x 6"....

Proclaiming in Gothic German script," A Happy Guest is Always Welcome",this unique piece is abundant with symbolism! Grapes on the vine, pomegranates, olive branches, and mythical figures flank the center large heavily padded JL /LJ or SL/LS monogram which is encircled by rose and ribbon medallion. The hem stitched linen is wonderful! The embroidery in shades of pale greyish blue is perfect though not professional...this lady knew her art and practiced it well! Measures 11 1/2" X 59" An exceptio...

This beautifully embroidered Altar Cloth has most likely been cut down from original size, however I think it makes a wonderful valence or table runner! Full of symbolism, the grapes and wheat signify the Host. The measurements are 77" X 10".The hand embroidery is in excellent condition, the wonderful drawn work hem has a few broken brides as seen in photos. The German old Gothic letters are heavily padded. Freshly laundered and pressed for you!...

After much, much research I believe this is a fine example of Chemical Lace, often known as Swiss Lace which was invented in Switzerland 1883. Under a magnifier, the brides have a fuzziness not seen in hand made lace. Lace of this type has become quite collectible, and especially hard to find large pieces made almost exclusively with it. This piece as you can see is almost all lace with a 21" center of very fine, almost sheer linen. It measures 39" X 42". My photos don't do justice, as they make...

Heavily padded embroidered "Trust in the Heart of Jesus" in German, with a crown of thorns surrounding a bleeding heart highlights this brilliant antique linen cloth, older machine worked in style of Society Silk or Needle art Embroidery. The The Arts and Crafts stylized border design is of crosses over 3 petals signifying the trinity. It has a hand openwork row of drawn hemstitching on 3 sides with a hand hemmed 2" across the top. There is an embroidered lozenge in orange floss in top right (mo...
