Fun and unusual, this practiced hand embroidered towel has the most gorgeous damask patterns woven throughout the bright white linen and cotton ground. The double R's are heavily padded in pink and light turquoise floss, in a stripe that reminds me of ribbon candy. Delightful and unique unused 100% vintage cotton sheet, lace inserts and flounce, and Oh! so precious red and white striped, huge 6" high letters comprising the R C monogram intertwined with floral embroidery! That's a lot of impact! Without a doubt it was made at home, most likely for a trousseau, (it's Italian). One of a kind, you think? Wonderful and finely executed embroidery highlights this set of 4 linen place mats found in Switzerland. The embroidery is all by hand on fine linen trimmed with a dainty edging. Freshly laundered and perfect but for a wayward bit of trim that needs but a few stitches to repair.

I'm almost certain the linen has an addition of silk that gives it this feel and dimension. The damask design is rather understated single rose and bud in each corner surrounded by a geometric border at the hems. Perfect for tea or cocktails, this set of 6 white on white has simple but charming replique hems and a floral embroidery. All work is by hand and lovely on the front, however the back side of the embroidery is a bit messy. I doubt your guests will examine the back however! Found unused, now freshly laundered and perfect. Measures 10" square.
