Beautifully carved wooden wallbox, perhaps for candles.It has a wonderful patina and looks like a warm rich leather!I found this in Switzerland and it might be attributed to Brienz, the real source of what is considered Black Forest carvings. It has 2 marks near the front center which almost look like burns, but doesn't detract from it at all. Quite an addition to any wall in your castle!!! I couldn't resist this precious European "Post Box"w/brass escutcheon and slot for your name or address…And it's own little key! The wood has beautiful patina and one side has little wormwood holes(but they've left the scene long ago)and the glass window is intact.Just looking at it takes me back to a gentler time ,when we looked forward to our mail !!
