The large scrolling iron hat and coat hooks are the stars of this piece. The wood base seems to be blonde painted over withc chippy old siver paint. The camera glare does detract from the appearance. Quite a find for any room of your home! Leave it as is or even remove the paint or even the hooks to be added somewhere else!It hangs on the wall by the original flat metal hangers.Measures 21" X 2 3/4"

My photos don't do justice to this quaint Swiss Mountain Cabin Scene on heavy iron. The colors are quite muted in tone ,with Arts and Crafts stylized pine cone designs in each corner and circling the cabin scene. According to my research,the first tole painting on iron was stenciled rather than painted. This handsome Very heavy iron mirror reminds me of work by Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, a leading Belgian Art Nouveau Designer.
